In depth

The place

A belt of broken, uneven country along the border between São Paulo and Minas Gerais, mild at around twenty degrees and planted on slopes rather than plateau.

The terrain is the point. Uneven ground means uneven exposure, and coffee grown across it ripens at different rates on the same farm — which is one reason late-maturing cultivars like Arara are useful here rather than inconvenient.

What this region offers

Sweetness and nuttiness. Chocolate and almond over a balanced body — a component that rounds a blend rather than pulling it in one direction.
